ABOUT US
‘sock rainbow’
view from Moville Beach, Inishowen
Aptly described as the jewel in Donegal’s Crown, the Inishowen Peninsula is Ireland’s northernmost land mass - hidden away like a precious treasure thanks to its remote geography. And for those intrepid enough to make the journey here, the experience is never forgotten. “It’s like standing on the edge of the world!’
For centuries, Inishowen has been admired for its lush mountainous landscape, panoramic sea views, vibrant fishing villages, independent spirits, and unique traditions. Among these being the weaving, spinning, and knitting practices that belie Ireland’s deep-rooted passion for the fibre arts.
Isle of Wool
Motivated by the harsh climate, rugged terrain, and geographic isolation, the inhabitants of Inishowen have long had a symbiotic relationship with sheep, and a knack for creating clothing out of wool. Hence the name Inish Ollan, which translates from the Gaelic as ‘isle of wool.’
Throughout the 20th century, Donegal has been at the heart of Ireland’s knitwear production. And today, with over four decades of experience in the knitwear industry, we continue in that tradition with a fresh, contemporary outlook.
Our knitwear collection will be released in Spring 2025. In the meantime, we offer you a small, cozy preview with our range of Cashmere-blend socks.
